Tips For Getting Better Strength Training Results

If you are looking to get better results from the time you spend strength training, you will want to check out the following tips.

Lift Heavier Weights

Lifting smaller-sized weights over a long period of time is great for a cardio type of workout. However, if you are really trying  to increase your muscle mass, you need to progressively lift heavier weights. Find the heaviest weight that you are comfortable completing full sets with. Use those weights for two weeks. After that time has passed, you will want to increase the weights by five pounds each. Complete your reps every day using those for a week or two. You will want to continue this pattern and watch you muscle mass grow as a result of it.

Get More Protein In Your Diet

In order to gain more muscle mass, you need to have more protein in your diet. This may mean you will want to introduce more lean meats into your meals. If you are not a fan of eating a lot of meat, you can also make soy or whey protein shakes and drink those before your daily workouts.

Lift Slowly

Do not make the mistake of assuming that the faster you lift the weights the more muscle mass you will gain. It is actually the opposite. You need to maximize the effectiveness of each move, and to do this, you will want to lift and lay the weight back down in a slow and very controlled manner. This may take a little more time, but the end results will be more than worth it.

Compound Different Exercises

To get the quickest total-body results, you will want to compound various exercises. For example, instead of sitting on a bench and working solely on your arm curls, you can combine lunges with arm curls. Just remember to keep your movements steady, slow, and controlled for optimal results.

Switch Routines Every Couple Of Weeks

In order to get the best strength training results, you will want to mix up your exercise routine every couple of weeks. If you don't, your body will become used to the workout that you have been doing, and it will not react in the manner in which it needs in order to build as much muscle as possible.

With the previously mentioned tips in mind, you should have a much easier time getting the best possible results from your time spent strength training.
