4 Reasons You Have Back Pain

If you suffer from back pain, it's most likely because of some bad habits you partake in on a day to day basis. Many people suffer from back pain strictly because of bad habits and not from any kind of injury that they have suffered from in the past. If you experience back pain, but haven't' suffered an injury, here are four other reasons you are probably experiencing it:

  1. Poor Posture: Slouching is probably the worst bad habit for your back and the most common reason people suffer from back pain. When you hunch over, it's putting a great deal of pressure on your lower back. One of the main reasons people do this is because they sit behind a desk all day. Luckily, there are some ways to get rid of this bad habit. First would be to be sure that you are sitting in a back-supportive desk chair. Another way would be to check yourself throughout the day by taking breaks to stretch and walk around before sitting back down for a long period of time again.
  2. Poor Lifting: Another reason you might have back pain is because you are lifting heavy items with your back. This is common especially for those who work with inventory at their jobs where they need to move and lift boxes. To avoid this, you should be lifting by transferring the weight to your legs. To do this, always be sure that you are bending your knees while keeping your back straight. If you need to, it helps to invest in a back brace.
  3. Smoking: Not many people realize this, but even smoking can be the cause of your back pain. This is because, when you smoke, you are restricting the blood flow in your body. When this happens, the discs in your spine are not getting the blood flow cushioning needed to keep your spine supported in a healthy way, thus leading to back pain. When you quit smoking, you will find overall better health, including the possibility of eliminated back pain.
  4. Poor Movement: Finally, you may be experiencing back pain because you are sedentary most of the day. Not only are you most likely exhibiting poor posture when you are sitting all day, but you are also preventing healthy blood flow in the body and increasing muscle tension, which also causes back pain.

When you know why you may be suffering back pain, you can easily eliminate the problem by quitting the bad habit. You should also consider the help of chiropractic services, which can help you readjust your spine and learn even more techniques to help improve the back pain you experience.
